EmpowerHER Impact Network was born from a lesson Dr. Jackie Ejuwa learned the hard way. Born in Britain to Nigerian parents, Jackie moved to the United States as a young adult. As an immigrant professional navigating corporate America, she often found herself without the mentorship or cultural cues that others took for granted.
Early in her career, Jackie was unknowingly offered a promotion over lunch – but without a mentor to guide her, she misread the moment and turned it down. Only later did she realize what had happened – and how differently things might have gone if someone had been there to help her read the room, weigh her options, or simply say, you can do this.
That moment – and others like it – stayed with her. Drawing on decades of experience in mentorship and leadership development, Jackie envisioned a space for women like her – women navigating careers while managing the nuances of first-generation or immigrant life. She imagined a community where these women could find each other, share hard-earned wisdom, and grow together – a place where culture, ambition, and community weren’t at odds, but deeply intertwined.
EmpowerHER Impact Network is more than a professional community – it’s a place to be seen, supported, and celebrated. Through mentorship, professional development, and culturally grounded connection, we help first-generation and immigrant women lead with poise, navigate complexity, and build careers that reflect their values.
EmpowerHER Impact Network was founded by Dr. Jackie Ejuwa, a seasoned healthcare leader with over 30 years of experience across the United Kingdom, Nigeria, and the United States. She is the founder, President & CEO of the strategic advisory firm Transformative Blue Health Advisors.
Previously she spent 20+ years at Blue Shield of California, where she co-founded the Black Employee Network, developing and launching its mentorship program. Under her leadership, the network fostered engagement and professional development for more than 400 Black employees, serving as a scalable model for inclusion and growth.
In recognition for her dedication to mentorship and the advancement of women, Jackie was honored with a High Heels in High Places award by The Links, Inc., Inglewood Pacific Chapter.
